One Month Ago

Strange how one month can seem like a year.  One month has changed our lives.  One month ago today we saw Dr. Ross walk into the room...the look on his face told us everything.  One month ago we heard him say to us, "Your son has cancer."  One month ago we sat with  Dr. Honey and cried as she told us the plan for Jude.  One month ago we were admitted to the PICU with our 6 month old son. One month ago we were terrified, shocked, and sad.  One month ago the Lord ran to meet us in the Valley Of The Shadow Of Death.  One month ago we didn't know where we would be today.  Today we are hopeful, encouraged, and blessed....still shocked and sad at times...but at peace.  I can truthfully say that we are at peace.

Jude's prognosis is good...no, it is great!  We are hopeful and know that the Lord is faithful.  We have fabulous doctors that we love and trust.  Doctors that have become our friends through this crisis.

We went to church tonight because we plan on going in the morning to my parents church.  For the last month the song "Jesus Paid It All/O Praise The One" has been stuck in my head.  Tonight as I sat next to Dr. Honey who was holding Jude, they opened the service with this song. All at once it hit me that today is one month since our lives changed forever with Jude's cancer diagnosis.  And one month to the day I was sitting next to the doctor that found his tumor and saved his life and tonight she was holding Jude in her arms, rocking him and loving him.  One month later.   I was overwhelmed with so many emotions...but mostly my tears were because of the Lord's great goodness to us.
If you aren't familiar with this song the line that they repeat several times is "Oh praise the One Who paid my debt and raised this life up from the dead..."  Here are the lyrics to the whole song...

I hear the Savior say
Thy strength indeed is small
Child of weakness watch and pray
Find in Me thine all in all

Jesus paid it all

All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow

Lord now indeed I find

Thy power and Thine alone
Can change the lepers spots
And melt the heart of stone

Jesus paid it all

All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow

It's washed away! All my sin! And all my shame!

And when before the throne

I stand in Him complete
Jesus died my soul to save
My lips shall still repeat

Jesus paid it all

All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow

Oh praise the One Who paid my debt and raised this life up from the dead

I was overwhelmed once again by the Lord's sweetness and goodness to us.  One month ago today I never would have dared to dream that in a month...one short month...we would be sitting in church with Dr. Honey and Raine with Jude.  Much less that he would be doing as well as he is.  We are so blessed!  Thank you Lord for your goodness!

I pray that as you celebrate the Lord's resurrection this weekend that you are healthy, blessed and joyful.  We are.

Mark 16:1-8-When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him, just as He told you.’”

God has truly blessed us in the last month. Jude has been healed and will bless others in the days, weeks, months and years to come. I think he will be a teacher. I'm not sure of what, God's word, math, business, who knows? It may not be full time but he will be teaching others something for a long time. There is a certain charm about his smile and his countenance. Thanks for asking me to do the ACS walk with him. It will be a great honor. Dad
