Give Thanks In All Circumstances

Today Brad and I watched Pollyanna. I think that movie is around 17 or 18 hours long and my attention span is about 5 minutes tops. But it was good to see an old movie with great morals and a good message..."try to find something to be glad about in any circumstance". Haven't we heard that somewhere before? Oh yeh... 1 Thessalonians 5:18-Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. We didn't go to church today because James has had a sore throat. We are supposed to get the strep test back from the lab on Monday. I doubt that he has strep, but I sure wouldn't want any other mommies bringing their kids to the church nursery if they weren't sure. This is the first time that James has been sick and I feel so awful for him. But I am "thankful" that this is all we have had to deal with and that overall, I have a very healthy happy baby. I was also "thankful" to get to stay home with my two favorite guys an

Back To Normal

I feel like my life is back to normal now. It is so good to have Brad back. He was so exhausted after getting home. He had a very strenuous week learning all sorts of Boy Scoutish things and out-doorsy type stuff. He spent the entire 8 days in a tent...on a cot...and now his back is all jacked up. That's what happens when you turn 30. It's all downhill from here. Let's hope he doesn't break a hip. Anyhow, needless to say, he was happy to be back in his own comfy bed. I was all excited to make his favorite birthday cake (Zucotto) for him. Can you see the forced joy on his face? All he wanted to do was sleep and I made the poor man pose with his cake. I was going to get the candles but I realized I was really pushing my luck. O-well. My little man was exhausted too. He fell asleep while I was feeding him his bottle. He hasn't done that since he was little bitty. I soaked it up! There is nothing better than holding a sleeping baby. I love it! Look at

Daddy's Home!!!!

Someone is very happy his Daddy is home... Very... Very... Very... VVVVEEEERRRRYYYYY HAPPY! And so am I!!!!!

17 Hours To Go

If he doesn't stop to eat or for any potty breaks. So maybe to be safe I should tell myself 19 hours. That way I won't be sad when he's late. And I'll be happy if he's early. Oh the games I play on myself. Anyhow...this time tomorrow night I'll be snuggling with my sweet hubby!

More Adventures With Baby James

Today after lunch with Krys, I went to pick up James from Mom and Dad's. Mom mentioned that he didn't eat very well at lunch. He hasn't been eating well for a couple of days and didn't sleep well last night (or so far tonight either). I decided to take him into the doctor because I am neurotic and over-protective like that. Well sure enough the precious little angel baby has a sore throat!!!!!! The doc gave him some magical numbing stuff and voila! He was able to drink his bottle! So here is the little darling being such a brave little boy whilst in so much pain. That papery stuff that covers the exam tables is wildly entertaining to an 8 month old. Note to self: buy a bolt of doctor office papery stuff. And here he is being cute and darling in the tub this morning. And here he is wondering why I just sat this strange thing in front of him and keep trying to stick it in his mouth. Note to self: work on sippy cup training when baby feels better. And here he is tryin

Lunch with Krystal

Today I had lunch with my sweet friend Krystal. We met several years ago. We worked together. Actually, we've worked together at two different jobs. Let me tell you...this girl was with me through some CRAAAAAZY times. She has three beautiful children...Khloe Bug, Kaiden, and Kristian. It was so great to catch up with you today! Love you girl!

Happy 30th Birthday Bradley!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET BRADLEY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUUUUUUUU! WE LOVE YOU! WE MISS YOU!

Phidippus Audax Wicked Evil Devil Spider

Regarding the aforementioned spider, my mother tells me that "It was a Phidippus Audax, the most social of all spiders, with good eyesight and great jumping abilities". Thanks so much. I'll sleep so much better tonight knowing that the wicked evil devil spider saw me well before it jumped right up on my lily-white bee-hind to make friends with me.

Did you hear me scream?

So in my eager anticipation of my husband's return Friday I've been thinking of everything I can do to get things ready for him. Clean the house, wash my hair finally, make him a birthday cake, fix his favorite meal, give the baby a bath, put on real clothes instead of pajamas, and then I thought...I could lay out and look a little less ghostly too! So I put James down for a nap and put on a swimsuit that was five million times to small. I honestly had to look away from the mirror...too frightening. I'm the reason they make swimsuits that have skirts. So I started trying to talk myself out of it. The conversation with myself went something like this: It will be hot and I'll get sweaty. No, there is a nice breeze outside. It will be pleasant. One of the neighbors might see me and be grossed out. No, they are all too old to see that well. Good thing, they'd go blind from the whiteness. What if the baby starts crying. I can take the monitor. What if this bikini cuts of

James Sr.

I am a major Daddy's girl. (I'm also a Momma's girl too...I'm equally attached). We named our son after my dad. I pretty much think he hung the moon. We all know that I am his favorite. (Ohhhhh....I'm in so much trouble for saying that!) I'm mom's favorite too. (Big big trouble!) I think that they tell all of us that we are their favorites but I know the real truth. Growing up, Dad and I would do all sorts of adventurous things like fishing, camping, and mountain climbing. We climbed the highest mountain in New Mexico several times. He got me up said mountain by telling me that the top was "just around the next corner". I believed him every time too! I fell for this trick each time we climbed it. (Doesn't say much for my smarts, but at least we did it.) He's heroically strong too! When we would go back packing, by the end of the hike, he would have 99% of my pack tied on, stuffed in or hanging from his pack. I pretty much just carrie

Bradley

I am missing my hubby a lot this morning. So I thought I would blog about him. (Plus he's not here to tell me I can't). Brad will be 30 tomorrow. Yes...I am older than he is. How sucky that he has to celebrate his 30th birthday on a work trip! That's ok...my parents had a super-fun birthday party for him before he left. And I sent a box-o-birthday-fun for him to open on the actual day. I am sure he will have to sneak off to somewhere private to open it and avoid embarrassment. Anyhow, Brad is like Captain America or Superman or someone else super strong and muscly and heroic. He can do absolutely anything athletic and he is addicted to exercise. (Wow...the total opposite of me...I can do nothing athletic and I am allergic to exercise). He competes in triathlons and does exceptionally well. He was a swimmer in high school and actually went to the Olympic trials. He is really good. He loves to bike, run, do crossfit, lift weights, and anything else that requires lots of stren

A Visit With Dee Dee

Yesterday at Mom and Dad's was super-fun. James got to swing, play with Papa, & eat delicious homemade peaches and cherries ice cream that Nana made. Today Mom and I went to Lubbock to see my grandmother, Dee Dee. She is my Dad's mom and is 91 years old and a saint. Seriously...if you knew the story of her life, you would agree. So here is my precious sweet Dee Dee with James. I love this picture. My baby is named after her baby. I realized that James had broken out in hives from Dee Dee's cat. Thank goodness I brought the Benadryl . I shot him full of it and then this happened... Anyhow, my Mom made it all better...food cures most of my problems. We went to eat the world's most fabulously delicious cupcakes from Peace O' Cake and got a cup of coffee from J & B coffee to wash them down with. YUM! If you are ever in Lubbock, do yourself a great big fat favor and get a cupcake from this place. You will thank me later. They sell out pretty early so don't

Memorial Day

Snuggle Time

James snuggled down in bed with me tonight before going to his own bed. What a little angel. And yes, it is only 8:35 and I am in bed...blogging...and then watching a movie. If the 21 year old me could see the 31 year old me...she would laugh.

Charming Baby James

James was feeling super-cute today. What a little charmer! Bean came over to relieve me of some of the suffocating boredom I am in the midst of without my husband here. He let James play with his fancy iphone, he brought me a coffee (really, there is no greater gift in my world), and he showed me how to put one of Brad's bikes up for sell on Ebay . Seriously...that stuff is like rocket science. Why do they have to make it so hard? Brad's going to be super proud of me for getting it done though! My mom and dad got back in town tonight which means the rest of the week will be less boring than the weekend was. Tomorrow James and I are going over there for a Memorial Day cookout! Yummy! 120 hours until my hubby is home. I'm so pathetic.

Bean

This is mine and Brad's friend Bean. He is just about the greatest thing ever in the history of the world. We love him and we fight over him. (He likes me the best though so I don't really worry too much). He is one of those great guys that you can count on no matter what. He drove 2 hours to the hospital when I had James only to see him for 2 seconds and then turned around and drove right back. He's also our computer guru. He knows everything about computers. He makes sure we are up on all of the latest computer sort of things. He's the one who made me do FB and convinced me to do a blog. He has been the unfortunate recipient of many gross stories that I couldn't tell a girl. He has made no less that 60 trillion trips to Babies R Us with me to buy baby things...mostly bottles for some reason. But most of all I really like to talk to him about what girl he is currently dating. This is riveting stuff for an old married gal. He is really deep and spiritual and smart
