37 Weeks

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and totally uncomfortable.  I have had contractions all day long but at my appointment with my doctor today I found out I am still only at a 3 and 80%.  Ugh.  I would have thought that so much pain would at least have gotten me to a 4 or 5.  No such luck. I was smiling because I hadn't been to the doctor yet to find out that I hadn't changed any...I was still hopeful. We've all been just sitting around waiting for Katy Jane.  Even Jamesie.  I think he looks so big in this picture. Remember the other day when James and I were walking in the cul-de-sac and the mean dog scared him?  When we were walking yesterday...this is how he remedied the situation.  Nothing to be afraid of when he's got his Daddy.  Well...this is officially the longest I've ever been pregnant.  I had heard an ugly little discouraging rumor that girls are more stubborn than boys about when it comes to being born.  I guess it is tr...

Again

Guess where we were again today???  Yep...the hospital.  Again.  This is getting old.  My doctor wanted to check the fluid level around Katy Jane.  Thankfully she is all good.  And I can't complain that I got to see a cute little picture of her sucking her thumb. This is Brad passing the time in the triage room...which we are all too familiar with. Today's triage-mate was 30 weeks pregnant and had just been in a car accident.  Poor thing.  She had her last baby 7 weeks early so she was understandably concerned.  I was on the side with the tv this time so I put it on Fox news and turned it way down...so I could accidentally overhear her giving the nurse her stats and talking on the phone to her mom.  I'm nosy like that.  Really all I wanted to know was if I weighed less than her or not. We were sent home again.  I have an appointment with my doctor on Wednesday.  We will see where things are then.  I'm so ready ...

Getting Closer

It's been an interesting few days around here.  First of all, both boys got sick.  We went to see Dr. Honey and got them on some antibiotics. Lots of lounging around. Jude did not handle things very well.  He has had several very cranky days. Later that day I went to see my ob and checked up on Katy Jane.  I was still at a 2.  That night I started feeling sick too.  I called my doctor the next morning to get on an antibiotic myself so we would all be well before Katy comes.  Later that day I went and got pre-registered at the hospital.  Good thing, too. Thursday night I started having very painful and very consistent contractions.  We timed them for several hours.  About 9:00 we decided to call my doctor.  He gave me my instructions and we decided to wait it out.  Then around 11:30 they started coming stronger, every 2 minutes for 2 hours.  Brad called the doc again and he told us to head on up to the hospital. ...

Sensitive

I was walking with James today while he rode his bike around the cul-de-sac.  We got around to one of the neighbors house and they have a big mean dog that conveniently has a nice little square cut in the fence so he can see out to the innocent passerby's that he wants to attack.  I tried to play it cool and said, "Oh.  Look James.  There's a dog."  He. Lost. His. Mind.  I am not kidding you.  The kid FLEW off his bike and started running and screaming.  Clearly not a fan of attack dogs.  The bad thing was that he was barefoot and stepped on a big sticker burr.  That turned the panic into all out hysteria.  I pulled it out of his foot but didn't get all of it out.  Which only ticked him off and he wouldn't let me get the rest out.  He was screaming so loudly that Brad, who was a full block away, heard him and came running. In case you didn't know...James does not handle pain well.  Jude can take a big blow and bounc...

James' First Recipe

Yesterday I let the boys go in and wake up Brad.  And yes, Jude had already put on his boots. They ran in and attacked him.  What a way to wake up.   But he is such a sweet daddy, he couldn't help but smile. Brad and I had the pleasure of having lunch with the pastor who married us and his wife over at my parents house today.  It was so wonderful to see them and catch up a little bit.  We love Scott and Pam. After naps and running a few errands, the boys and I went back over to Mom and Dad's to play for awhile.  The boys rode a little horsey. Jamesie got hot and had to go sit down with Nana to cool off for a bit. Jude took the opportunity to ride solo. After working up an appetite, James came home and made up his specialty...grilled cheese. He's really good at cooking them now. Tonight he said he wanted to make a "tasty grilled cheese" and asked for a 3rd piece of bread. After he cooked the grilled cheese, I cut the crusts off, cut it i...

Ugh

Yesterday and today have been difficult days physically.  I will have contractions for an hour or 2 and then they will stop only to start up again a little later.  But it leaves me feeling exhausted and sort of cranky.  I've been a ton of fun to be around lately.  Poor Brad.  I just keep reminding myself that it will all be worth it and soon I will be back to normal.  A new normal, but normal. Anyways, my sweet little boys keep me as preoccupied as I can be in between contractions.   Last night, Karin, JT, Addi and Lo Lo came over and brought Katy Jane 2 pink cars!  Jude thought it was for him.  I love how his long ol legs are hanging out the back.  I am so curious to see how Judie Bug is going to react to Katy Jane.  I know James is already in love with her.  Jude is the same age that James was when he was born and James did not take to Jude too well right at first.  I am hoping it will be different with the mid...

35 Weeks

I'm 35 weeks today and found out at my appointment that I am dilated to a 2!  So excited to meet Katy Jane! We had a busy day getting a lot done.  But first thing this morning Nana took the boys to story time at the library.  James loved it.  He was front and center.  Jude...was not impressed.  He spent his time looking the other direction...  Checking out the other kids... And practicing his yoga... After my appointment, Brad, the boys and I ran some errands.  We got Jude's hair cut. Then we got a planter and some plants and Brad and James got it all hung and planted.       I love how it turned out. James was up past his bedtime and I think he was tired. I love his dirty little face. He worked hard and was proud of himself.  I was proud of him too.  My sweet boy.

Happy Birthday Brad!

Today is Brad's REAL birthday!  Happy Birthday Sweetie!  I love you so much! I made Brad a special yummy lunch which made my kitchen look like this... But it was so worth it. Then we had some cupcakes. Later Brad worked with James on his golf swing.   Then he had some work he had to do.  I love how he holds his mouth when he is concentrating on something.  His Daddy does the exact same thing.

3 Puppies

When we found out we were having a boy when I was pregnant with James, Brad went and got him his blue puppy.  James was in love with it.  He has literally loved 5 or 6 of them to death.  We have had to buy several replacements. When we found out we were having another boy with Jude, Brad went and got him a brown puppy. Today he got Katy Jane a pink puppy.  So cute!  James got a new red hat today so he could be just like Daddy.  I think he looks super handsome. And little Judie Bug always looks handsome no matter what he's wearing.  Even in cowboy boots and a pajama top.
