First Day Of School

We survived the first day of school.  James did great!  I was a mess.  He was so excited to get to school!  I am so grateful he felt this way.  But to send this little person that all of your heart and soul and dreams are wrapped up into to be taken care of by someone you don't really know for 5 hours was more than difficult for this mommy.

I woke James up and as is typical of him, he was all sunshine and sparkles, ready to take on the day.  He helped me make pancakes then we got ready for school.
My handsome big boy!
I explained to him what all was in his backpack and lunch box.

At the last minute, Puppy decided to jump into Jamesies backpack to go to his first day of school with him....just in case.

At the "meet and greet" Mrs. Michael gave us the letter "S" to decorate and bring back to class.  We decorated it with Spiderman and James took one of his favorite Spiderman books.

James was SO excited about his backpack, lunchbox and school! It made it much easier on my heart to let him go.
Jude was excited too!  He just didn't know why.  He just knew he needed to get in on all of the hugging and kissing and excitement.
More pictures with Daddy and Mommy because we are just big ol saps. After family prayers it was time to go.  My heart physically ached.

He couldn't wait to get into school!  I had to yell for him to stop and wait for me.

Here is his teacher Mrs. Michael.  Presh.
He sat right down at his desk, ready to learn!
He listened closely to Mrs. Michael.
Here he is with his BFF, Zintha.  This little angel girl has his back...but more on that later.
Here he is with his sweet cousin Addi.
Jude was all smiles once he got rid of his big brother.  He finally gets his fair share of the attention.
It was a very long 5 hours for Brad and I.  We missed our big boy so much.  I was literally giddy on the way to get him.  Brad barely pulled to a stop before I jumped out of the car.  As soon as James saw me he ran to me and ran right of one of his shoes.  To celebrate his first day of school we went to the bakery for some cookies and to hear all about his day.

He was so tired after his busy day of learning though, that he could barely tell us much of anything.
This is the sweet face I missed looking at all day.  He is always right by my side...it was good to have him back where he belongs.
Jude was very happy to have him back as well.  They both missed each other.  I have never seen them play more happily together.
I can only assume this is some secret code they've come up with for their super hero club.  Or it is just Jude copying James as always.
Katy Jane was happy to have her biggest brother back too!
After poking and prodding for as much information as we could about school, we gave it a rest.  All we got was that he played with Zintha, learned about the letter "S", played on the playground and sang.  Sounded like a successful day to me.

Then I got a text from my sweet friend Penny, James' future Mother-in-law if I have anything to do with it, Zintha's Mommy.  She said that Zintha told her that one of the boys in class had to go to timeout.  She gave no names.  Penny asked her if it was her or James and she did not incriminate James.  She's got his back.  I asked James about it and he cheerfully and readily admitted that it was he who was put in timeout!  Yaowza.  Of course it would have to be MY kid that is put in timeout on his first day of school ever.  I asked him what he did to be put in timeout.  He said he got in the boat.  (There is a big boat in the children's area that we now know is off limits). He said he was mad.  I asked why and he told me he was mad because he had to be in the corner.  I told him not to sweat it too much since Noah himself caught some flack for being in a big boat.  I asked him if he apologized to Mrs. Michael for disobeying and he said, "Nope!  I was too busy learnin'!"  I had absolutely no response to that whatsoever.  I did tell him he will have to apologize to her on Thursday and start following the rules and obeying his teacher.

I am so grateful for this big first day of school milestone that my big boy has reached.  As difficult as it was for me to let him go, I wouldn't want it any other way.  Thank you Lord.

LOVE this! Those boys in super hero mode made me laugh! So typical of boys, and something fun they will remember forever! You are in a new chapter in your life, and it is always super hard to adjust. Sounds like he will do great!
