We decorated for Christmas over the weekend. It is mine and Brad's favorite thing to do. The kids love it too. We turn on Christmas music, pour egg nog...or "Christmas milk" as James calls it, build a fire and start decorating.
They had to take a break from decorating to warm their piggies by the fire.
Unfortunately Katy Jane had to take a nap during the majority of the decorating (that was sort of on purpose because, yeh, she's 1 and into everything. In a very destructive way). But when she woke up we were excited to show her the Christmas tree. She didn't know what to think at first and approached cautiously.
Making sure it was ok with Mommy. She has a nasty little habit of breaking things that are sparkly and glass and then she gets in trouble.
It's a go.
She wasn't sure what to think.
She was massively confused as to why there was a big sparkly tree in the living room that was not there before her nap. I get it. It's weird.
But true to her nature she accepted it and started tearing it apart as fast as she could.
Each year we get a family snowman ornament (Brad and I started that tradition before kids), James gets a nutcracker ornament, Jude gets a Santa ornament, and Katy Jane gets and angel ornament (of course). Here they are with this year's ornaments.
The angel...
The Santa...
And the Nutcracker...
Jude is tremendously protective of things that are exclusively his...like his ornaments. Trust...you don't want to mess with his stuff. If it's community property, he's fine with sharing. But if it's something we've labeled as "his"...watch out. Case in point...I think Katy accidentally looked at his new Santa a little bit too long and he put her in her place. As the reigning Princess, she didn't take this too well.
And here he is staring at his baby ornament. He loves it because it has a picture of himself as a baby on it. "Me baby ornament" he says. We are working on those pronouns by the way.
Only 40 days left until Christmas!
