Hustle & Bustle

What a busy Christmas season this has been. We have been so blessed by our precious family and friends and some fun times leading up to this best time of the year.

I love these sweet babies.

Our church had a pancakes and pj's morning. Lots of sticky, syrupy fun!  We love our Ms. Elaine.

And we are so blessed by incredible friends.
Jude and Ben.
James and Jude set up their nativity which included superheroes coming to see the Baby Jesus.
We decorated Mom and Dad's tree.  I love this part of Christmas every year.
Generally the youngest puts the angel on top of the tree.  But Katy Jane was having none of that.  And of course the boys couldn't agree on who should do it.  So they both did.
Some Christmasy crafts.
James' choir had a sweet little Christmas concert.
What a joy to hear these precious little voices singing about Jesus.
Thick as thieves, these three.
We have chosen to tell our children that Santa isn't real and that we focus on celebrating the birth of Christ.  The other day I had to take Jude to the doctor and while we were waiting we heard some loud sirens.  We looked out the window and what to our wandering eyes should appear...Santa and an elf getting out of a fire truck.  Confusion abounds.
As we left, another mom told us that Santa was down the hall.  Jude wanted to get a closer look and he was fascinated.  When Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas, he told him he wanted a Santa suit.  Jude couldn't wait to tell James.  James was unimpressed.
We told the kids that we had an early Christmas present for them.
We adopted a tiny little yorkie named Samson.  He is about 2 years old and so sweet.  We are all in love with him.
He has settled right in.
Before he came to live with us he was used to a very quiet life.  He now is part of a very loud family with three energetic children.  He likes to hide under the bed sometimes.

Last weekend we went to a fun Christmas party at our good friend's house.

At Sunday lunch at Mom and Dad's James decided it was ok to lounge around on Nana's counter while she cooked lunch. I normally wouldn't let this slide but he looked so cute.
Katy Jane loves her sweet Papa! She loves to snuggle up with him and watch her favorite shows.
An old friend of Brad's is in town for Christmas and we enjoyed getting to have lunch with them today.
Look at their sweet baby!  Those cheeks!
Today we started our Christmas baking.  I don't think I've ever started this late before.  Yikes.

We got half done today and will try to finish up tomorrow.

I saw the idea for cute little Christmas Eve boxes on Pinterest.  We thought it would be a fun little tradition to start for the kids.  New Christmas pjs, a new christmas movie, popcorn, hot chocolate, marshmallows, and candy.

We decided to give them to them tonight.  I love these sweet babies in their Christmas jammies!

Hot chocolate and Christmas movies!

Another wonderful tradition we have started this year are the amazing Ann Voskamp advent books.  I have been so blessed by the daily devotions in The Greatest Gift.
And we've been reading Unwrapping The Greatest Gift with the children every night.  It is a beautiful book that walks us through Jesus' family tree from creation up to his birth.  The boys love taking turns each night hanging the ornament on the tree.

We are ready for our wonderful family to get into town and celebrate this Christmas.  A joyful time of year to celebrate the precious gift of our Savior.
