Hooray we have started homeschool!!!! There was lots of anticipation and excitement for our first day of kindergarten and pre-school. We started the day with gifts of new school supplies. You can see that it's still dark outside...they were up early. Very. Very. Early.
James' first day of Kindergarten! I'm so proud of my big boy. He's so smart and loving. His heart for the Lord is incredible for a 5 year old. He has wisdom and insight far beyond his years.
My precious Jude's first day of pre-school! He has always wanted to be a "boo boo doctor" since before he could even talk. He would carry around his doctor kit and wear his tiny little scrubs. I believe that because of all he's been through, he really will be a doctor. The Lord has given Jude a compassionate and protective heart. I love that he's so quick to stand up for those he loves.
And my little sweet Katy Jane's first day of pre-school. She wants to be a mommy when she grows up. I love that. She is so dainty and precious. She brings so much joy and girliness to our home. She jumped right in there with us today homeschooling. She won't be left out. Don't let her sweetness and daintiness fool you, she's a scrapper.
We went for a walk before we got down to work.
The boys were most excited to start with science.
Katy Jane loves to paint. She worked on a piece of art for her First Day Of School time capsule.
Pieces of yarn cut to each child's height. We will see how they've grown on the last day of school.
Each kiddo decorated their time capsule.
Sweet little hand and foot prints for the time capsules to compare on the last day. Also in the time capsules were samples of their handwriting, a self-portrait drawing, and a little interview with questions that we will repeat on the last day.
My biggest surprise today was how much Jude loved doing his work. He would forgo his breaks to keep working. He will probably be teaching homeschool next year.
My three favorite students!
Katy Jane's a big fan of the magnatabs.
Jude loves working with the inchamals.
After all of our hard work we went to the bakery for our traditional first day of school cookie. 2013. 2012.
And a few more times practicing on the magnatab before bedtime for Katy Jane.
We had a wonderful first day of school! We all enjoyed it and can't wait to get started again in the morning. I think it will take us some time to get used to the schedule and we will have to make some adjustments until we get it just right. I'm so grateful to be on this path as a family. I'm so grateful for this time with my sweet ones.
