Jude's Appointment

Last week Jude and I went to Dallas for his oncology appointment.  We got up very early and left to drive straight to the hospital in Dallas.    By the time we got to Childress Jude was ready for breakfast and I was needing to walk around to wake myself up a little bit. "It's too bwite.  The sun's in mine eyes!"  Waking up at 3:00 AM finally caught up with him. We went right to the hospital cafeteria to grab some lunch before his appointment. Thankfully we didn't have to wait too long for his appointment.  He was NOT happy that he had to have his blood drawn.  He held a grudge for several hours if not days.    Finally the oncologist came in.  It was our first time to meet with this doctor as Jude has been put in the "ACE" program, After Cancer Experience.  Yes...it was certainly an "experience".  Strange wording in my opinion.  Had to make the acronym fit I assume.  Anyways, new oncologist...thi...

700 Wives

Sunday evenings at our church, Dr. Batson is doing a series called "A Look At A Book" where he describes a book of the Old Testament.  Tonight's was Song Of Solomon.  Yaowza.  I breathed a sigh of relief as I looked over at James engrossed in his coloring and snacking on raisins.  I thought he was oblivious to the subject matter.  Dr. Batson said that King Solomon had 700 wives.  James looked straight up at me, WIDE-eyed, and exclaimed (loudly), "700 WIVES??!?!?!"  (I tried to shhh him).  And then only slightly quieter he said, "700 WIVES is A LOT of wives!!!!!!!!!!!!  That's more than 100 wives!!!!!"  The wisdom of a 5 year old.  He was sitting next to Parker and asked her if she would like to come live with us.  As we left the sanctuary they were holding hands.  I guess he figured he better get a jump on things if he has to have 700 wives.  But I was pleased to find out that he really IS listening.
