37 Weeks

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and totally uncomfortable.  I have had contractions all day long but at my appointment with my doctor today I found out I am still only at a 3 and 80%.  Ugh.  I would have thought that so much pain would at least have gotten me to a 4 or 5.  No such luck. I was smiling because I hadn't been to the doctor yet to find out that I hadn't changed any...I was still hopeful. We've all been just sitting around waiting for Katy Jane.  Even Jamesie.  I think he looks so big in this picture. Remember the other day when James and I were walking in the cul-de-sac and the mean dog scared him?  When we were walking yesterday...this is how he remedied the situation.  Nothing to be afraid of when he's got his Daddy.  Well...this is officially the longest I've ever been pregnant.  I had heard an ugly little discouraging rumor that girls are more stubborn than boys about when it comes to being born.  I guess it is tr...

Getting Closer

It's been an interesting few days around here.  First of all, both boys got sick.  We went to see Dr. Honey and got them on some antibiotics. Lots of lounging around. Jude did not handle things very well.  He has had several very cranky days. Later that day I went to see my ob and checked up on Katy Jane.  I was still at a 2.  That night I started feeling sick too.  I called my doctor the next morning to get on an antibiotic myself so we would all be well before Katy comes.  Later that day I went and got pre-registered at the hospital.  Good thing, too. Thursday night I started having very painful and very consistent contractions.  We timed them for several hours.  About 9:00 we decided to call my doctor.  He gave me my instructions and we decided to wait it out.  Then around 11:30 they started coming stronger, every 2 minutes for 2 hours.  Brad called the doc again and he told us to head on up to the hospital. ...

James' First Recipe

Yesterday I let the boys go in and wake up Brad.  And yes, Jude had already put on his boots. They ran in and attacked him.  What a way to wake up.   But he is such a sweet daddy, he couldn't help but smile. Brad and I had the pleasure of having lunch with the pastor who married us and his wife over at my parents house today.  It was so wonderful to see them and catch up a little bit.  We love Scott and Pam. After naps and running a few errands, the boys and I went back over to Mom and Dad's to play for awhile.  The boys rode a little horsey. Jamesie got hot and had to go sit down with Nana to cool off for a bit. Jude took the opportunity to ride solo. After working up an appetite, James came home and made up his specialty...grilled cheese. He's really good at cooking them now. Tonight he said he wanted to make a "tasty grilled cheese" and asked for a 3rd piece of bread. After he cooked the grilled cheese, I cut the crusts off, cut it i...

35 Weeks

I'm 35 weeks today and found out at my appointment that I am dilated to a 2!  So excited to meet Katy Jane! We had a busy day getting a lot done.  But first thing this morning Nana took the boys to story time at the library.  James loved it.  He was front and center.  Jude...was not impressed.  He spent his time looking the other direction...  Checking out the other kids... And practicing his yoga... After my appointment, Brad, the boys and I ran some errands.  We got Jude's hair cut. Then we got a planter and some plants and Brad and James got it all hung and planted.       I love how it turned out. James was up past his bedtime and I think he was tired. I love his dirty little face. He worked hard and was proud of himself.  I was proud of him too.  My sweet boy.

30 Weeks

I'm 30 weeks pregnant today!  10 weeks to go.  James and Jude both came 3 weeks early so maybe I only have 7 weeks to go...but I'm in no hurry to kick her out...yet.  I'm sure that will change sooner rather than later.  I've found that with James, my pregnancy was the longest 9 months of my life.  I couldn't wait to hold him.  I did not like being pregnant.  By 30 weeks I was miserable and so ready to not be pregnant anymore.  I was filled with anxiety about if James would be perfect or not.  I just wanted to be holding him and know that everything was ok.  With Jude, that was the second longest 9 months of my life.  Because really...having just one baby is not that hard.  It seems like it at the time, but really, in retrospect, it was a cake walk.  I was just excited to meet Jude, get him out, and get on with life with two little boys.  And again, I was miserable.  With my boys, I was not a good pregnant person....

Tired?

I had an appointment with my OB today to check on little miss Katy Jane.  She is doing great!  I love to hear that sweet little heartbeat.  While I was waiting to see Dr. Meeks, Raine called to give me the results of Jude's latest labs.  He has MRSA...again.  I can't tell you how frustrating it is to try so hard to keep him well, to keep him home from church, bible study, everywhere else...and he still gets sick.  I am just at a loss for what else I can do.  After my appointment I went to get my nails done while I was without my little sidekicks.  By this point in my day, I was exhausted, frustrated, and had cried most of my make-up off.  I guess I was staring into space, looking like a bedraggled goshawful pregnant mess when the nail girl said, "You ok?  You look so tired."  Thanks.  Thanks so much for that.  I'm 7 months pregnant...YES I'M TIRED!  And now...thanks to you, tiny perky Asian nail girl...I'm cranky AN...

27 Weeks

I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy is going.  Maybe it is because I know it is my last and I am determined to enjoy it...or maybe it is because I am feeling better during this pregnancy than any of the others.  At today's appointment Katy Jane sounded great!  I also had to do the glucose test. When I went to schedule my next appointment I was shocked to find out we are already going to appointments every 2 weeks!  It's going too fast. Judie Bug is doing so much better now that he is off the steroids.  He is back to his sweet little self. Crazy hair and all. Jamesie weathered the storm pretty well too.  But we are all glad to have less temper tantrums around the house.

Pickles & Ice Cream

I don't remember this unpleasant stage with James that Jude is in.  He is grumpy.  I am sure it has a lot to do with the 6 teeth he is cutting but goodness...it's starting to wear on all of us around here.  This video is a typical day in the life of Judie Bug.  Apparently just the sound of my voice causes him such great irritation that he has to throw himself on the floor in disgust. In all of the eons that I have spent being pregnant, I have NEVER asked Brad to go get me pickles and ice cream.  Too cliche.  For one thing...I'm not a huge fan of ice cream or pickles.  But for the first time, I actually really did crave ice cream and pickles.  I'm blaming it on Jude. But for the record, I did not eat them together. When Brad and James were at the store, James talked Brad into buying him another movie.  Rango.  I cannot even begin to tell you how disappointed we were in this cartoon.  It is NOT for children.  And it wasn't ev...
