7 Weeks And 1 Day

Today was my first sonogram.  I found out that the baby's due date is July 4th!  My little firecracker!  So in love already.

We've Got A....

Jude Quinn

It's a boy! Jude Quinn. He currently weighs 1 pound and 1 ounce. Everything checked out great! His heart, organs, spine, brain, and everything in between. His profile doesn't look anything like James' looked at this same time on his sonogram. And I don't remember James ever doing this... Touching his toes to his head. James doesn't know what is going on yet. We told him he is going to have a baby brother and he just stared at us. I realized this morning that I can no longer tell him he is "my favorite little boy in the whole wide world" anymore. But at least I have about 18 more weeks to spoil him.

Check Ups And Climb Ups

I had an appointment today with my ob and I took James with me. Dr. Meeks is the BEST ob in the world. He is a man of very very few words. Very few. Sometimes I make it a goal to ask him questions just to get him to talk. For instance, today I said: Me: Am I gaining too much weight? Dr. M: No Me: Can I use nail polish? Dr. M: Yes Me: Can I have my sonogram on June 2nd? Dr. M: Yes Me: Sorry about the extra company today? Dr. M: Ok Me: Can I use a tanning bed? Dr. M: No Me: Can I spray tan? Dr. M: No Me: Can I go outside when it's sunny? Dr. M: Wear sunscreen Me: Can I take 3 benedryl at night instead of 2? Dr. M: No Me: Did you deliver a baby today? Dr. M: No Me: Does the baby's heartbeat sound ok? Dr. M: Yes Me: Do you want me back in 2 weeks or 4? Dr. M: 4 That's ok. I don't mind. As long as he takes care of me and delivers my babies he can say as little as he wants. And the sonogram to find out the sex of the baby will be on June 2nd. I am so excited. This ba...

Clumsy!

This morning as I was getting ready to leave for CBS, I gathered my books and purse in one arm and James in the other. I lost my balance and fell on my back with James landing on my belly. I started having sharp pains above and below my belly as well as on my back. I went ahead and took James to Mom's and went to CBS. On the way I called my ob's office. The nurse told me to come in to check the heartbeat. I left CBS early and went to the doctor's office. Thankfully the heartbeat sounded great. The little squirt was very active and swimming everywhere. Which only makes me more sure that this is another active little boy. She said I just pulled those muscles that don't get used very often...or in my case, never. She also told me to take Tylenol every 4 hours and take warm baths every 4 hours...my pleasure! I told you the other day about James' sweet attitude about helping me. Well today after I fell, I went to the other room and when I came back in he had g...

That's Weird

Today I got my cousin's wedding invitation in the mail and was so excited to see that they have a wedding website. I ran right to the computer to look it up and got totally caught up in reading their story that I forgot that I have a very busy, climby 18 month old. When I remembered this is how I found him. He and Puppy were busy sorting napkins on the table. When will I ever learn? ~~~~~ I was reading one of my friend's blogs today and saw a cute little add-on thingy on her page. So I stole her idea and put it on mine too. Now you can know just how long until baby #2 makes his or her appearance with that little scary baby looking thing over to the right. Can't wait till it looks more human-like and less martian-like. 183 days seems really far away. ~~~~~ For Easter James got a Mr. Potato Head in his Easter basket. It totally freaks him out which is completely reasonable. I get it. And just a side note here...does anyone else find it extremely odd and just a bit di...

Hysterics & Heartbeats

So yesterday afternoon I got James up from his nap and everything was cool as usual. Then he tore into crazy freak-out mode. I had no idea what was happening. It is like he was in some major pain. He was grabbing onto me and doing weird things with his legs. I could not get him to calm down no matter what. I tried to put him down on the floor and he curled up in a little ball and just screamed. I was totally panicked because I didn't know what was hurting him. I called my friend Lorraine and told her what was going on. My Mom came in the door and I was about to head to the emergency room but on a whim (and out of desperation) I gave him a sippy of PediaSure. He sucked the whole thing down in about 30 seconds. I gave him another, he did the same thing. Then he looked at me and smiled. Little toot. I called Lorraine back and told her we weren't going to the emergency room and she said she would stop by after work to check him out and make sure there was nothing more ...

Still Knitting

We had a little bit of a scare yesterday with the baby and went to get things checked out today. We saw a good strong heartbeat. That is very reassuring. There is a little bit of a change to our due date though. It is now October 3rd which is just great because that is one of my darling nieces birthday. I think as a mother it is just part of life that we are going to worry about our kids...in utero or out. For me, pregnancy is an especially worrisome time. I wish I could see in there and know that everything is going well and this little one is thriving. Today I have taken great comfort in the fact that the Lord, who is knitting this precious one together in my womb, CAN see in there and IS taking care of him or her. And He will do a far better job than I could do. My sister always says, "The Lord knows the number of his days" regarding her children. That is wise and comforting. Some things are just out of my hands. But thankfully, they are always in the Lord's...

Shock And Awe

This is what James did when I showed him the picture of his new sibling. This is what he did when I told him I thought it was a girl.

Introducing Baby #2

We had our first sonogram today and here is the first official picture of the new baby! I am only 6 weeks along...I was hoping it was further so I could look forward to the end of this lovely nausea. My due date is September 29th. This baby's birthday is going to be close to James'. I am betting this is a girl because I certainly was not this sick with James. Also, when we had James' 6 week sonogram, he was 4mm and this baby is only 3mm. That has to mean something right? I don't care what it is....I am just glad it is not coming in a set of two. I was terrified it would be twins. And another thing is that this one's heart wasn't beating as visibly as James' was at this same point. I am sure all of these differences really mean nothing. I just like to make a really huge deal out of everything. Life is so much more interesting that way. So now that I have seen the actual physical, visual, heart-beating proof I must start to wrap my mind around the fac...
